Memorization course

Selected Surah Memorization, One Surah at a Time

Memorize the Surahs that matter most to you, from Al-Fatihah and the short Surahs of Juz ’Amma to longer goals like Surah Al-Mulk. Your teacher listens to every verse in a live one-to-one lesson, corrects your pronunciation as you go, and helps you revise so each Surah stays with you.

What is selected Surah memorization?

Selected Surah memorization means learning particular Surahs by heart, chosen for a reason, rather than setting out to memorize the whole Quran.

Many learners want more to recite in daily prayer. Surah Al-Fatihah is recited in every unit (rak’ah) of prayer, and a further Surah is commonly recited after it, so knowing a wider range of Surahs lets you vary your recitation with confidence.

For children, short Surahs are a natural first step into memorization. For adults, the course offers a focused goal that fits around work and family, without the commitment of full Hifz.

Memorizing well means memorizing correctly. Pronunciation learned wrongly at the start is hard to undo, which is why your teacher listens to each verse as you repeat it. If you later begin full Hifz, every Surah you have already memorized becomes part of that journey.

What students work on

Every learner starts from a different place. These are the areas your teacher works on, adapted to your age, reading level and goals.

01

Memorizing step by step. Verses are learned in small, manageable portions, so each lesson builds on the last.

02

Correct pronunciation. Your teacher listens closely and corrects letters and sounds as you recite, before mistakes settle in.

03

Tajweed at your level. Basic Tajweed rules are applied while reciting, matched to what you already know, so beginners are not overloaded.

04

Regular revision. Earlier Surahs are revisited in lessons, so new memorization does not push out the old.

05

A steady routine. You leave each class knowing what to practise before the next one, which makes progress easier to keep.

Learning steps leading to a goal

How each lesson moves you forward

A simple, repeatable path. Your teacher adjusts the pace to the learner.

01

Share your goal

Tell us in the trial class what you want to memorize and why, and your teacher hears your current reading.

02

Choose the Surahs together

You and your teacher agree a starting Surah and a sensible order.

03

Memorize in small portions

Listen, repeat and recite a few verses at a time until they feel secure.

04

Polish your recitation

Your teacher corrects pronunciation and Tajweed as you recite from memory.

05

Revise what you know

Earlier Surahs come back regularly, so they stay strong.

Lessons shaped around the learner

Every class is one-to-one, so the lesson follows the student rather than a group timetable.

For children

Young learners usually begin with the shortest Surahs, learned through listening and gentle repetition. Lessons keep a calm, encouraging pace. Female teachers are available for young children and sisters.

For teens and adults

Older learners often come with a clear aim: more Surahs for prayer, a Surah they have always wanted to know, or a return to memorization after a break. Your teacher plans portions around your available time and corrects recitation in detail.

Class times are agreed after the trial to suit your time zone. Tell us when you book if you prefer a male or female teacher.

How to memorize a Surah and keep it

Good memorization is less about speed and more about steady, correct practice. These habits help at any age.

1. Listen before you recite. Hear the verses recited correctly several times, so your ear learns the right sounds first.

2. Work in small portions. Memorize one or two verses, then join them together before adding more.

3. Recite aloud. Saying the words out loud helps you notice mistakes that silent reading hides.

4. Get corrected early. Recite to your teacher before practising alone for long, so errors do not become habits.

5. Revise every day. Spend a few minutes on older Surahs before starting anything new.

6. Use what you learn. Reciting memorized Surahs in your daily prayers is one of the most natural ways to revise.
